Frozen (2010) - Don't let this one go

Before the title 'Frozen' was linked with a certain Disney animated property, it was the name of a little known survival/horror film about three friends who get stuck on a ski lift after the snowy resort has shut down, leaving them to the elements for the foreseeable future (not a singing ice princess in sight!).

It's not a long film, mainly due to its - almost - single setting.  The first act establishes the three main characters who are doomed to dangle at the mercy of a swing, high up over the snowy ground.  I won't go into the hows and whys of how they end up that way, as it doesn't really matter.  The bulk of the film is what happens to the trio as they desperately try to come up with feasible ways of finding a way down.

It could be pretty dull, but - thankfully - the three main stars (Emma Bell, Shawn Ashmore and Kevin Zegers) work very well together and have definite chemistry on screen.  The film doesn't exactly have much of a budget, so you have to invest into these three people to see whether they can make it out of this - more serious than it sounds - situation.

I called it a 'survival/horror,' but it's probably more of a 'survival/drama' as there's no monsters here or anything that would fall too closely into the horror genre.  If you're looking for something to invest an hour and a half of your time in a film that focuses on man's struggle against the elements, this one should give you everything you're looking for.

7/10 if I woke up on Groundhog Day and had to watch this again, I could live with that
