The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones - Great (if you like teen movies)

People keep comparing ‘The Mortal Instruments: The City of Bones’ to the Twilight franchise and you can see why. They (like The Host, Warm Bodies and Beautiful Creatures) takes a supernatural backstory and sets it amidst a ‘teen romance.’ And, that is what this movie is – a teen romance. Yes, you’ll find plenty of monsters, plenty of fighting and plenty of supernatural shenanigans, but, ultimately, it’s for the teens.

If you like teen romance movies then you’ll probably like this. If you like teen romance movies that have a healthy dose of the supernatural then you’ll probably LOVE this! Everyone plays their parts well – they’re scary, sexy or whatever they’re meant to be, but the bottom line is that if you’re already out of your teens, you’ll probably have seen it all before.

It’s fun, but just don’t expect anything too original.
